Higher quality seed and sweet corn
The DB18 delivers what every seed or sweet corn producer wants: virtually damage-free crop and more of it. From the corn head to the dump box, this harvester is designed to safeguard the crop. The low profile corn head gets under the crop. Sharpened knife rolls and adjustable stripper plates gently get the ear and leave the trash in the field, meaning less trash going through the machine. For seed corn, this also means less in-head shelling.
Husk-on ears are handled with rubber gathering belts and travel on rubber conveyors through a high efficiency cleaning system that further eliminates debris. There are just two product drops in the entire process, especially important with fragile varieties, providing less damage to the ear.
Productive, reliable, high performing harvester
The DB18 is a highly productive machine with the operator comfort and overall capacity to cover huge acreage. It is able to harvest sweet corn and high moisture seed corn, consistently, even in muddy field conditions. The result is higher recovery, regardless of crop and field conditions.
The full time mechanical 4-wheel drive system utilizes heavy duty industrial strength drive axles equipped with limited slip differentials to spread torque to all four huge drive tires. The system is reliable, and nearly maintenance free. |
Comfortable environment
The work-friendly John Deere cab is center mounted with broad areas of curved, tinted glass that provides unobstructed visibility to the front, rear and sides. Cab is rubber mounted to dampen noise and vibration. Instructional seat is standard; the cab is loaded with features that add productivity.
Controls are conveniently placed. Electronic digital and standard analog gauges are front mounted allowing the operator to update machine functions easily. Header, elevator and cleaning fan automatically come back to preset operating speeds.

Less trash at the plant
The DB18 is equipped with a high efficiency cleaning system, including a huge 40-inch cleaning fan that works in combination with an aggressive stalk ejector to eliminate stalks, while delivering more clean, undamaged ears to your plant.
Crop material is spread evenly across a 54-inch wide rubber belt conveyor for gentle handling and more effective cleaning. |
Precise steering and better traction
Articulated steering provides superior maneuverability. The DB18 is easier to steer and keep on the row because the rear wheels track in the path of the front wheels. Rear wheels don't have to climb in and out of wheel ruts.
This design allows for increased recovery, reduced compaction, minimal ridge damage and better traction. The oscillating chassis keeps all four wheels in contact with the ground at all times, even in heavy mud, allowing it to pull through tough spots.
Big dump box and fast dump cycle
The DB18's large integral 518 cu.ft. product hopper eliminates the need for tote carts, tractors and extra labor. The harvester's efficient hydraulic system makes the dump cycle fast. The variable height dump box unloads at any height from 9 ft. (2.7m) up to 13 ft 4 in (4.1m) and reaches out about 30 in. (0.8m) to accurately place valuable seed corn into trucks. Spillage and harvester/truck collisions are avoided. Short drop heights further reduce the possibility of damage. |
