The article outlines 4 case studies of operations using the full Korvan system. You can read the entire article here. Or contact Greg Berg at 559.897.7012 for more information.

Oxbo Becomes Ferrari Dealer
Oxbo International Corporationhas entered an agreement with Ferrari Costruzioni Meccaniche of Italy, to be the exclusive dealer of products in the US and Canada. Ferrari manufactures (7) lines of transplanters in both self-propelled and attachment versions. Ferrari has sold mechanical transplanters the world over since 1961. For Ferrari, transplanting is the business!

Starting in 1998, Ferrari launched a project focused on the future of transplanting the FUTURA automatic transplanter. The FUTURA dramatically cuts labor from the transplanting equation; for instance: 1-operator can literally run-solo on [any size] self-propelled unit. Not only this, but the FUTURA row units dramatically increase output of plants/hour (up to 3x) compared to hand labor. Perhaps most important is the FUTURA can be setup to accept almost any commercially-available plug tray, rather than requiring a proprietary tray system.

Oxbo has long-recognized and developed solutions for the labor-pressures that challenge growers to remain cost-effective and competitive. In recent years US labor pool of farm workers has become much more scarce and costly and represents some serious challenges to growers. Transplanting is required for most high-value vegetable crops, and plug planting is always the preferred method because the roots can get a real good start.  However, it is traditionally a very difficult task to handle the plants and plugs without damage, thus this work has always been done by hand. The FUTURA is an advanced machine which automates the entire transplant process from the tray to the soil with great care. With FUTURA we have the opportunity to eliminate 50% to 90% of the labor associated with transplanting and offer substantial labor advantages to growers.

There is nothing else like this and most growers first reaction is that “it sounds too good to be true”. However, since 2001 there are (25) multi-row FUTURA transplanters sold and operating around the world including (1) in Ohio. Seeing is believing, and for those who “need to see it to believe it”, Oxbo has ordered (2) Ferrari Futura automatic transplanters for demonstration purposes which are expected to land in February 2008 Starting in March 2008, Oxbo plans a rigorous tour of demonstrations in California, Florida, Indiana, New York, and Ontario. The economics are right and we expect that growers’ expectations will be far-exceeded making this a true success story for US growers!

Oxbo 6156 Wins AE50 AwardOxbo 6156
The Oxbo 6156 has just been announced as a winner of the 2007 AE50 award. The 6156 is OXBO's next generation large pea combine harvester with all new CAN based control system, new cab, improved operator controls, and improved hydraulics. The 6156 brings increased threshing capacity with four motor threshing drum drive and longer threshing drum life for reduced operating costs. The hydraulic system improvements provide improved steering and equal cylinder function performance at any engine speed while lowering total hydraulic system oil temperature for longer component life. Improved monitoring of speeds and functions reduces the chance for component failures. The optional four camera monitoring system increases operator monitoring of harvester functions and around the harvester. A new pod separator belt design increases life and reduces overall cost of operation. The new cab gives operators more room and better comfort during the 24 hour-a-day harvest. The CAN control system gives better control for the operator.

Korvan 7420 Wins AE50 AwardKorvan 7420
The Korvan 7420 Berry Harvester selectively harvests ripe blueberries and cane berries, removes debris, and delivers the fruit into a variety of different industry standard containers (as dictated by fruit variety and grade). The key to its success is in the flexibility of belt layout and handling choices off a single machine platform while maintaining simple operation and high fruit quality. Featuring pivoting discharge belts, the 7420 allows for effortless changeover between different containers. The 7420 utilizes a two-stage cleaning system. The first stage effectively removes a majority of debris early in the conveyance of the fruit thus reducing the tumbling of fruit and debris together that leads to fruit damage. The harvested fruit passes though only three conveyor belts resulting in a higher level of fruit quality. A four-wheel drive system provides increased stability with the lowest ground compaction of any top loading berry harvester on the market today.
